Background
Qatalum, a joint venture by Qatar Petroleum and Hydro, will be a fully-integrated primary aluminium plant consisting of a smelter, casthouse and carbon plant as well as a dedicated 1250 MW gas fired power plant. The potlines are scheduled to come on stream in December 2009, with Project completion in August 2010. The plant will have a capacity of 585,000 tonnes of primary aluminium annually and there are plans to boost the production to 609,000 tonnes annually from 2013.
The Role
Qatalum now has opportunities for experienced and qualified Power Plant engineers to create history by becoming an important part of the workforce at the largest aluminium smelter ever built in one step. They are looking for qualified and experienced staff to fill a number of roles including Senior Mechanical Engineer, Reliability Engineer and E/C&I Maintenance Superintendent, and Overhauls Superintendent.
Candidates
Candidates should have Combined Cycle Power Plant operational experience preferably with General Electric gas turbines. All candidates should possess a tertiary qualification and a minimum of five to ten years current and relevant experience.
